Young People & Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Many of my clients have said something similar during our sessions and I think it speaks volumes when thinking about the society we live in today. The world literally seems to be speeding up and the pressure and expectation to keep up with its pace is leaving many people, including children and youngsters feeling stressed, anxious, angry and generally detached from who they really are and want to be. The world around us is often portrayed as negative and angry with itself and the media can leave us feeling unsafe, scared and insecure. This process can start from a very young age and once started it can continue to build as child continues through life into adulthood.
The only two fears that we are instinctively born with is a fear of loud noises and a fear of falling – where do all our other anxieties, fears and worries come from? – the world around us and quite often our early childhood experiences. Some of these fears are appropriate and keep us alive, however many others can inhibit us unnecessarily and really limit our ability to “take on life” and enjoy it.
The content and structure of Solution Hypnotherapy is simple and becomes very familiar as the sessions progress. The client soon knows what to expect and this can be extremely reassuring for the client. There are no unexpected surprises, and this quickly puts people at ease.
With all this in mind, I believe that Solution Focused hypnotherapy can be well received by younger people as it is accessible, positive and light hearted in its nature. If a child or younger adult can understand in simple terms why they are feeling anxious, angry or low in mood then they can also start to understand what they can do themselves to move away from these feelings and be re-united with their superhero “I can do this” selves. Children love to use their imaginations and respond well to and enjoy the hypnotherapy part of the session as this is all about letting their imaginations run wild. If a child can start to regain a positive outlook and sense of control and confidence in their abilities, then this can ultimately change the direction they chose to take in life.
As Alice above stated “What a difference this could have made”
Hypnotherapy is a safe, relaxing and enjoyable process and at no time is the client unaware of what is happening. The client has complete control throughout the process. Children can be accompanied by parent/guardian. If you, the parent/guardian are at all unsure about what the hypnotherapy part of the session entails I would be more than happy to take you through the process first, free of charge. Please get in touch with me if you would like to find out more or to book a session. All young children of 17 years of age or below will need the consent of their parent/guardian to proceed with solution focused hypnotherapy sessions.
